LocalPour ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to being straightforward about how it handles your data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how it is used.

1. Information We Collect

Location

With your permission, the app reads your device's location to sort nearby bars and restaurants from closest to farthest and to apply distance filters. Your location is used on-device only and is never transmitted to our servers or stored.

Anonymous Identifier

The app uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication to generate a random, non-identifying ID for your device. This ID is used solely to sync your saved favorites across your devices. It is not linked to your name, email address, or any other personal information.

Favorites

The list of venues you mark as favorites is stored in our database (Firebase Firestore) under your anonymous ID so it persists across app launches and devices.

User Submissions

If you choose to submit a special, we collect the information you enter: venue name, address, day of the week, special description, and an optional time window. You may also attach a photo (for example, a photo of a menu board). Submitted photos are used only to assist with filling in the submission form via AI and are not displayed publicly. Approved specials are added to the app's public database.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Location — to sort and filter venue results on your device.
• Anonymous ID — to sync your favorites.
• Submissions — to review and, if approved, add community-sourced specials to the app.

We do not use any data for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication and database. Firebase Privacy Policy
• Anthropic Claude API — used server-side to read photos you attach to submissions. Photos are sent to Anthropic's API solely to extract text and are not used for model training. Anthropic Privacy Policy

4. Data Retention

Favorites and anonymous authentication records are retained until you delete the app or request deletion. Submitted specials (approved or pending) are retained as part of the app's database. Photos attached to submissions are deleted after the submission is reviewed.

5. Children's Privacy

LocalPour is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 17 years of age.

6. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your data (favorites and any pending submissions) by contacting us at the address below. Because authentication is anonymous, we may ask you to provide your anonymous device ID to locate your records.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
